“Fly-In” Travel Reimbursement Program
Sweet Briar is focused on a pioneering spirit and entrepreneurship through women’s leadership, sustainability, creativity and science. And we’re seeking young women who are just as passionate as we are in these areas.
That’s why we created the Fly-In Program! It is designed for all female high school juniors and seniors and provides:
Funded reimbursement for travel to and from campus for one student and family member via plane, car, or train.
Complimentary accommodations at our on-campus hotel, the Elston Inn.
All meals while on campus.

Application Process for First-Year Students
You are considered a first-time first-year student if you are a current high school senior or have not attended college since graduating from high school.
Transcripts of all academic work completed to date. Sweet Briar accepts the General Education Diploma (GED) in lieu of a high school diploma. Depending on your circumstances, you will need to provide an official final transcript with proof of high school graduation prior to the start of your first academic year at Sweet Briar. We will accept electronic copies directly from your school or via Credentials Solutions, the National Student Clearinghouse or Parchment.
If applicable, a list of current (senior-year) grades.
Optional
Standardized test scores are optional with GPA of 3.0 or higher. Sweet Briar accepts the SAT or ACT. Official scores must be submitted directly to the College. Sweet Briar’s SAT code is 5634 and the ACT code is 4406.
Letter of recommendation encouraged from a counselor, teacher or alumna
Essay (written or video), writing/art sample, portfolio, or interview (live or online) encouraged — This is an opportunity for you to be creative and tell us more about yourself and your interest in Sweet Briar.
Nov. 15 — Early Decision Deadline (As an Early Decision admit, please remember that this is a binding agreement. By accepting this offer, you are committing to enroll at Sweet Briar College and to withdraw all other college applications.

Explore Sustainability: Do you have students who are passionate about sustainability, but don’t know what a career path could look like? Sweet Briar’s director of the Center for Human and Environmental Sustainability highlights opportunities for students in sustainability-related fields and offers tours of the College’s sustainability initiatives (including the 26,000 square foot greenhouse, bee apiaries, and vineyards).
Request an engineering kit: Sweet Briar offers a four year ABET-accredited engineering program. Our engineering program creates specially designed Explore Kits, which we mail to students, with a mini engineering project and electronic circuitry that allows them to work on a project at home. Request one for an aspiring female engineer.
What is archaeology: Archaeology is a thriving field, with overlap in geosciences, environmental studies, anthropology and ancient studies, but the program can be hard to find at the undergraduate level. Sweet Briar’s assistant professor of archaeology and ancient studies, Erin Pitt, gives students a practical introduction to Archaeology, with a walk through of artifacts housed in Pannell Gallery and dig opportunities on campus.
