Dr. Kuhr joined the Sweet Briar Engineering Faculty in Fall 2020 after completing a postdoc and teaching fellowship in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Florida. He has published several papers on the topic of nano-scale deformation mechanisms in metals. His other research interests include materials simulation, microstructure-property relationships, and contact mechanics. He is currently the chair of the Systems and Information Engineering and Design Symposium (SIEDS), a student-focused conference which occurs each May.

Within Sweet Briar, Dr. Kuhr serves as the Faculty Athletics Representative.
